A homeless man has been charged with assault after kicking a D’Iberville police officer in the chest.
43-year-old Justin Vuyovich was charged with simple assault of a police officer and multiple misdemeanors. He was arrested Saturday and taken to the Harrison County jail. Bond was set at $100,000 on the felony.
Chief Shannon Nobles said officers went to the 3500 block of Sangani Boulevard about a disturbance of a business where someone was trespassing. Officers located Vuyovich nearby and tried to take him into custody. Vuyovich resisted and then became combative, kicking the officer in the chest several times.
With the help of other officers, they were able to take Vuyovich into custody. During booking, he was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and had outstanding warrants in the city.
