On Saturday, April 13 a group of seven volunteers gathered an impressive number of litter during the Petit Bois Island cleanup!
In total, the group managed to gather 182 pounds of garbage from the island.
This is just the beginning too, the Mississippi Coastal Cleanup Program is planning to clear marine debris from the 68-mile stretch of barrier islands.
For a breakdown, a total of 70 food wrappers, 97 plastic beverage bottles, and 106 hard plastic fragments were cleaned up.
The cleanup happened due to a partnership with the Gulf Islands National Seashore.
